Tennessee AFL-CIO President Billy Dycus issued the following statement in response to Tuesday's election results.

"With Election Day in the rearview mirror, the remaining task at hand is for local election administrators to ensure that every vote is counted. With several important battleground states still in the process of doing this, we are reminded of the need to exercise patience with the process and trust in our system. The will of the people will ultimately prevail.

In Tennessee, working families made their voices heard by electing over two dozen labor-endorsed candidates to federal and state offices. This ensures that our members will continue to have numerous advocates who will speak up for their interests at the Capitol. In particular, we congratulate Representative-elect Torrey Harris (HD 90) and all of our labor-endorsed candidates who won their respective races last night.

While these victories give us the strength to keep fighting, we are particularly mindful of the work that still needs to be done. We know that we still have a long way to go to get America and the Volunteer State back on track. The labor movement is ready to work with our endorsed candidates at all levels of government to raise wages and standards across America. That includes ensuring that our state legislature does not enshrine Right to Work in the Tennessee Constitution but rather works productively across the aisle to make life better for all Tennesseans."
