After a majority of workers at Ultium Cells in Spring Hill signed cards to join the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the company recognized the union, Tennessee AFL-CIO President Billy Dycus issued the following statement.

"For the second time in less than six months, the UAW has achieved another monumental victory in Tennessee. What makes this win even more inspiring is the fact that the workers faced no threats or intimidation from the company when making their decision on whether to join a union. That's exactly the role that employers should play during such an important process, and we commend Ultium for its actions and respecting the rights' of its employees.

Simply put: good jobs uplift communities, and this win benefits the entire state of Tennessee. Workers know their worth and are continuing to organize for the respect, wages, and benefits they deserve. The future of electric vehicle battery manufacturing, the future of Tennessee’s workforce and the future of the South is union strong. We congratulate the UAW on yet another historic accomplishment and welcome their newest members into our ever-growing, Tennessee labor family."
