Following a unanimous vote by its Executive Board last week, the Tennessee AFL-CIO Labor Council announces its endorsement of Megan Barry for Congress.

"Working families have never had to question whether Megan Barry will stand up for their interests," said TN AFL-CIO President Billy Dycus. "From her multiple terms serving on Nashville's Metro Council, to her tenure as mayor, her record speaks for itself. Even as the city underwent unprecedented growth and development during her time in office, Megan made sure that workers always had a seat at the table. Her flawless ability to have conversations with and create consensus among various groups shows that she is committed to representing all Tennesseans who live in the state's 7th Congressional District, regardless of their political affiliation.

Whether it's in Congress or at the State Capitol in Nashville, it's no secret that working families don't have a lengthy list of lawmakers who will speak out on their behalf. Megan would be a welcome addition to that group. While her opponent is hyper-focused on playing partisan games and pushing an extremist agenda, Megan is ready to step up and serve the district. She is a tireless fighter who would be a reliable advocate for our members in Congress. We are proud to endorse her campaign for Congress and look forward to her victory in November!"

As the presumptive Democratic nominee in the race for Tennessee's 7th Congressional District, Megan will face Congressman Mark Green in the General Election on November 5th. The Tennessee AFL-CIO's Executive Board and Committee on Political Education (COPE) will meet on August 21st to consider additional endorsement recommendations.
