Tennessee's Labor Movement Congratulates Striking Workers on Securing a Fair Agreement with Kellogg's
Following the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM) International Union's announcement that its members accepted the most recent collective bargaining agreement reached with Kellogg's, Tennessee AFL-CIO President Billy Dycus issued the following statement.
"This is what tireless, unwavering solidarity looks like. For over two months and in the face of relentless corporate greed, workers in four states sent a clear message to Kellogg’s: treat us with the dignity and respect that is rightfully ours. Their determination to secure a fair contract that fully addressed all of their concerns is a true inspiration to workers everywhere. We are especially proud of our BCTGM Local 252G family in Memphis, which has been a shining example of worker power to Tennessee’s labor movement. As we saw firsthand in the earliest days of the strike, the energy and solidarity that radiated from the picket line captured the attention of community leaders, elected officials, and countless union members who stopped by to show their support for these workers. With a new year on the horizon, we are more energized than ever before and are prepared to carry the fight for Tennessee’s working families into 2022."
