Amendment 1 & Labor 2022
HOW WILL AMENDMENT 1 BE PRESENTED ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT?
According to the Tennessee Secretary of State's office, four proposed amendments will appear on the November 8th, 2022 ballot directly after the candidates for governor. Amendment 1 will be the first one that is listed. The amendments will be presented as "yes" or "no" questions. A "yes" vote is to amend the constitution and adopt the proposed amendment language. A "no" vote is a vote NOT to amend the constitution and keep the language as it is.
In order for an amendment to pass, the following two things must happen:
The amendment must get more "yes" votes than "no" votes
The number of "yes" votes must be a majority of the votes cast in the governor's race.
All votes for all candidates for governor are added together and divided by two. The number of "yes" votes must exceed that number. If that's the case, the amendment passes.
