Solidarity Fund Launch!

Dear union brothers and sisters,

The Chattanooga Area Labor Council is kicking off our new Solidarity Fund! The purpose of this fund is to provide material support to workers in the midst of organizing campaigns in the Chattanooga Area, including walkouts, unfair terminations, and picket line support.

Our kickoff campaign is to raise $15,000 in preparation for a potential UAW strike at Volkswagen. While it is not clear whether Local 42 is going to officially go out on strike, we want them to feel secure in their decision knowing that the community supports them. This initial amount will be used as a hardship fund for the duration of a walkout that workers in dire circumstances can access. Depending on the success of the fundraising and the need, we will continue to raise money for however long a strike may occur.
