May Day Actions

On No Kings Day 2026, amid intense global turmoil, Americans participated in the single largest day of political demonstration in U.S. history. One month later, on International Workers’ Day, we’re keeping that energy alive.
May Day has always been about the power of working people to stand up to authoritarianism and corporate greed. This year in Chattanooga, we’re bringing that spirit home with a community-wide call to put people first.
And that starts with public education.
If we want a community that reflects our values, our schools should be free, fully funded, safe, and built for everyone. But schools aren’t just places of learning—they’re workplaces. Classrooms are where educators do the essential labor of shaping our future, and the conditions students learn in are the same conditions teachers work in. That makes the fight for public education a labor fight, too.
On Friday, May 1st, the Chattanooga Area Central Labor Council is hosting a countywide education rally. Come share your vision, celebrate what public education makes possible, and stand up for what it could be. We will be putting forward a bold vision of education that isn't limited by hate and division or a lack of resources. Come hear from students, teachers, community leaders, and your neighbors!
The rally will be at 5PM at the County Courthouse, located at 625 Georgia Avenue. See you there!
